WHAT TO DO AND WHERE TO TURN
Phillip Burriss
Why is more not being done to go face-to-face with the NAACP
and other black-power groups in Jena? The only way to get TV
and newspaper exposure is to face them down head-on. I have
read "All The Way" and seen how Nationalists have won the right
to rally and have held numerous rallies. But, why no major rally
in Jena? Since we have won those rights, why not exercise them?
I stand for pride in our people and cause, all the time.
The Negroes rally in behalf of the six of their own for beating up
a white kid. Why don't we rally in behalf of the white kid, against
the six who beat him up? If the parents of Justin Barker don't want
the support, so what? It is the kid, the youth of Jena and the youth
of America that we are supporting and who deserve the support.
Surely, the town of Jena would welcome such an event, to express
views the locals have, but have had such a hard time getting out.
A march could attract many from around the country, as well, if it
offers a chance for the voiceless to be heard. The news-media
keeps saying that we are "filled with hate," without even quoting one
word of what we say. In a rally, we can be heard for the positive,
loving and patriotic words we actually do speak. If the Negroes
can get away with such a beating, it makes us look like we are not
doing anything. But, we stand for something. Let's act on it.
I have not seen white people marching in a long time. Now is the
time. Right in our own back-yard. If we let the Negroes get away
with stuff, then no white kid, anywhere, will have a chance.
Nationalists have much support in Maryland. Keep the movement
in gear and get it rolling faster down the tracks. That is the only
way to get mainstream-America behind us. There are millions
out there, with our same views, who are just lost and don't
know where to turn.
